SWOT Analysis of Trump

Donald Trump’s strengths include his background in business being a CEO of his family business, his strong appearance in social media, strong brand management, straight forward speaking and calling out, having built an empire and making enough money to self-fund his campaign, and a well-known name.

Some of his strengths can also be weaknesses like his ability to speak without thinking that tends to get him in trouble. Also, his highly active use of media allows him to get into arguments over small things and rebuttal everything. His reactivity level is a weakness for him as well. His focus on blue color and less learned individuals limits his demographic and makes him appear less presidential. As well as his former background in business his speaking ability is not rehearsed, fixed or political. The obvious weakness in his case is his lack of political experience.

Opportunities that arise for Trump during the election came from news media showing Trump constantly as well as them pushing Bernie and pulling for Hillary. The Hillary Clinton scandal with the emails also was an opportunity for Trump to persuade voters that she is not trust worthy. He appealed to voters that wanted change whether it be political party or a changed from politicians.

Threats that came out during the campaign dealt with his background in that he did not have a political background where he protected everything he had ever did or said. Other incidents involved him being inappropriate, tweeting and speaking without thinking.

Through Trumps campaign his strong ideas were pushed. He focused on what he wanted to change and what was currently wrong with our system now. Whenever he had misspoken his campaign team made sense of what he said, backed him up and clarified. Eventually the nation became numb to his remarks or something new would come out of the campaign to make voters forget about issues. They used his remarks as a platform for publicity.

Issue Positions

  1. Building a boarder wall between United States and Mexico
  2. Bringing jobs back to America
  3. Fixing the national debt of 19 trillion
  4. Illegal immigration
  5. Tax cuts
  6. Refugees and vetting process
  7. Trade deals that protect US industry
  8. Healthcare – less expensive, state controlled
  9. Law and order
  10. Pro-gun law
  11. Lobbyist – create restrictions

Donald Trump should have highlighted education more in his campaign. He focuses on rebuilding America economically and creating jobs as well as stopping immigration and refugees for the greater good of America.

Trumps Campaign Staff:

Campaign Manager: Kellyanne Conway - she is counselor to the president. She implements the campaign strategy and must be able to analyze data and polling, advertise, fundraise, get votes and support.

National Political Director: Jim Murphy - os responsible for arranging alliances with other politicians and groups because they serve as elite opinion leaders.

Director of Social Media: Danial Scavino - in charge of managing Trumps social media, uploading images and videos and managaing his social media accounts.

  1. I really enjoyed your blog post! The layout choice you made for this post was truly effective. I agree that Trumps approach in politics with a background in business is a good unique way to approach it. I wrote my blog about Hillary Clinton and I also agree that the email scandal was a strength for Donald Trump, but a weakness for Hillary. Overall, this is an outstanding post, just keep an eye out on your spelling errors.

  2. First off I like the pictures you used in this blog. They all fit in perfectly to the SWOT analysis. I agree with you that he gets in arguments over small things, as I wrote in my blog that he was quick to rebuttal the Meryl Streep speech at the Golden Globes. However, his lack of Political experience is not that huge of a threat I think. In fact, it helped him get into the front runner status because he was the opposite of Washington DC insiders, like Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, and later in the General election, Hillary Clinton. Him being the ultimate outsider helped him win, because many Americans wanted something different than a career Politician in the White House.

  3. You made a really good SWOT analysis argument! I completely agree that many of Trump's strengths are actually also weaknesses. Although his businessman background made him seem like a fresh take on politics to many, his lack of political experienced affected the way the rest of the population viewed him. In my opinion I think his lack of experience made him seem very unprofessional. However, his charisma and lack of poise ended up getting enough attention from his target audience that he was able to secure the presidency so i guess he was doing something right.
